As of 1st November 2021, the Partnership at Brookside Group Practice will be taking on the management of Wilderness Road Surgery in Earley.
We have already partnered with Wilderness Road Surgery as part of the Earley+ Primary Care Network for the last 2 years and so this means that the two Practices will now be in a position to work more closely together to deliver and enhance the healthcare services offered to all our patients in the future.
Up until 1st November, Wilderness Road Surgery have been part of the Farnham Road Medical Group who are based in Slough, but with increasing emphasis on PCNs and funding for practices to work together more locally, the decision has been made that it make most sense for the Brookside Group Practice to take on the management of Wilderness Road Surgery.
The future of both practices remains highly important to us, and we wish to ensure that both continue to deliver outstanding care to our patients. Initially, Wilderness Road will continue to run in much the same way as it is now, however, we hope over time that Wilderness Road patients will have access to the additional services that we are able to provide at Brookside.
If you have any queries about this change, please do get in touch via our website contact forms. We have also provided answers to some frequently asked questions below:
Will the Wilderness Road patients become Brookside Surgery patients from 1st November 2021?
Patients will remain at their own surgeries. It does mean, in time, that Wilderness Road patients will have access to the other clinical and non-clinical specialists we have at Brookside, which may mean that they are invited to attend one of the Brookside sites in the future.
Does this mean that Brookside will have less capacity to see their patients?
The main GP at Wilderness Road will be Dr Qayam who is already working with the practice and she will be supported by other GPs, nurses and Physician Associates from Brookside. We have ensured that there will not be any impact on the number of appointments available to our patients. The Brookside clinicians who will work at Wilderness Road will do so regularly to help provide continuity for the coming months.
Will I now be asked to have appointments at Wilderness Road?
We do not have plans currently for our patients to go to the Wilderness Road site for appointments.
